Steelers Draft Day Packet: What You Need To Know

Steelers logo

It is finally here. Months of speculation is thankfully about to end and we’re going to get some answers. Provided they don’t trade out for the first time in forever, they’ll have a shiny new first round pick.

We’ve thrown so much draft info at you during this process that I know it can be hard to keep up. So we’re going to condense everything into one post with the critical information you gotta know before the Pittsburgh Steelers hand in their card.

Pre Draft Visits: We know 26 of the 29 though keep in mind there isn’t a strong correlation between a visit and the team’s first round pick. Only three since 2008.

Pro Day Tracker: Where we know Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert, and the rest of the Steelers’ staff was at during the Pro Day circuit. Since 2010, every first round pick had Tomlin and/or Colbert at their Pro Day. Schools we know those two were at this year:

Auburn
Wisconsin
Clemson
Ohio State
Michigan
Tennessee
LSU
Florida
Miami (FL)
Alabama
North Carolina

“What They Look For Studies:” Still seeing how effective these are but they’re making some sense (Shaquill Griffin, Kenny Golladay made the list and team has interest).

Here are the ones we did this year.

Inside Linebackers
Outside Linebackers
Cornerbacks
Wide Receivers

Big Media Mock Drafts:  Dave did a good job to lay things out yesterday of what the major media is thinking. Several pegged Artie Burns last year so there is some value.

Our Mock Drafts: See how well we do (or don’t do).

Dave Bryan
Daniel Valente

Josh Carney
Alex Kozora
Matthew Marczi

Dave-Te’ Thomas’ Podcast: If you missed it, or need/want to give it another listen, there’s the link to the article with our – and yours – favorite guest of the year.

Draft Profiles:  I believe that by the time the draft kicks off, we’ll have done 178 draft profiles this year. Great job by our team this season. Click that link to the last one that’s been published as of writing this and you can see the links to all the others at the bottom of the article.

Here are profiles on some of the first round candidates for the Steelers.

Jabrill Peppers
Evan Engram
Jarrad Davis
Tre White
TJ Watt
Marcus Maye
Obi Melifonwu
Josh Jones
Corey Davis
Takk McKinley

Enjoy the draft, everyone. Talk to you soon. Going to be a fun one.
