NFL Network draft analyst Charles Davis will be covering the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine next week but before heading out to Indianapolis for the annual event he released his first mock draft of the first round of the offseason.
With the 22nd overall pick in the first round, Davis has the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting Wake Forest cornerback Kevin Johnson, who we broke down for you this past week.
Davis writes:
The Steelers are getting long in the tooth in the secondary, and Johnson could be the pick here.
Davis has Johnson as his third cornerback off the board behind Washington’s Marcus Peters and Florida State’s P.J. Williams in his first mock of 2015. Surprisingly, Davis has Michigan State’s Trae Waynes as his fourth and final cornerback being drafted in the first round by the New England Patriots. I bet Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would be fine with that, right?
As far as other noticeable findings in Davis’ mock, he doesn’t have Alabama safety Landon Collins being drafted in round one and he’s also left Minnesota tight end Maxx Williams out of his mock as well.
