The Pittsburgh Steelers have already filled the open spot on their practice squad as the team announced Monday morning that they have signed defensive end Joe Kruger to their ten-man unit.
Kruger, the younger brother of Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Paul Kruger, was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh-round of 2013 NFL Draft out of Utah. He spent his rookie season on the Eagles injured reserve list with a shoulder and was waived by them prior to the start of the 2014 season.
Kruger was most recently a member of the Green Bay Packers practice squad. He was released by the Packers earlier in the month.
At Utah, Kruger recorded 116 total tackles and 3.5 sacks in 49 games played.
The Steelers had an open spot on their practice squad after the Kansas City Chiefs signed former seventh-round draft pick Nick Williams to their 53 man roster on Monday.
