Season 2, Episode 117 of The Terrible Podcast is up and with David Todd unavailable today, I fly solo in the first part of the show and recap everything that was notable that happened this past week. I start off with passing on the news that NFL.com will now include the All-22 view of every play in their 2012 Game Rewind Plus Package. It is hard to hide my excitement about this.
Today of course is June 15th, and as expected, the Steelers did not reduce the tender offer to restricted free agent wide reciver Mike Wallace. I discuss the comments made by General Manager Kevin Colbert in regard to the situation. Colbert also let it be known on Thursday that Max Starks certainly could be in the picture at the start of the season depending on his health. This is not a big surprise, but to hear Colbert at least acknowledge it finally is good to hear.
The Steelers broke mini-camp on Thursday with no notable injuries and nearly a full attendance. Both of these things combined to make the off-season fantastc thus far. I discuss the few banged up players that we need to watch as training camp gets underway, but overall the roster looks very healthy. David DeCastro is still unsigned and I touch a little on that and how I have no fears of him being unsigned by the time training camp gets here.
Finally I quickly touch on the roster moves this week that included the signing of long snapper Matt Katula and linebacker Brandon Johnson.
In part two of the podcast I welcome back Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and he answers quite a few questions I have in regard to several rookies and what he has observed over the course of the OTA sessions and mini-camp. We talk about the offensive and defensive lines as well as the linebackers. Brown also updates the status of a few of the banged up players heading into training camp. At the end of the interview Brown discusses that he will no longer be covering the Steelers beat as he is moving on to cover Penn State and golf for the paper. We wish him all the best, but know that this is not the last time we will hear from him concerning the Steelers.
Make sure you are following Scott on Twitter at @ScottBrown_Trib and thank him for all of the great coverage of the black and gold over the years.
