Week 16 is now in the books and all but three playoff spots remain up for grabs now. Here is our weekly look at the explosive plays and turnovers for the games this past week. The plus 2 number went 10-1 this past week and year to date in head to head games the plus 2 teams are now 131-29 and the winning percentage clicks up to 82%, 2% higher than the expected 80% number with 1 week remaining in the regular season. Teams with a mere positive TOX stat went 11-4 this week. Teams with a positive turnover differential went 9-4 overall this week and teams with a positive explosive play differential also went 11-4 this week.
The Pittsburgh Steelers added to their year to date TOX number in week 16 with their win Saturday over the St. Louis Rams and they now sit with a plus 16 TOX stat. A pretty amazing accomplishment being as they have a -12 turnover differential.
The New England Patriots have a good shot at climbing into positive year to date TOX in week 17 against the Buffalo Bills.
The New York Jets keep going backwards after a minus 7 TOX week against the New York Giants. They had no explosive plays this past week and the lack of them have hampered them all season.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could very well end up at minus 50 or more as they play the Atlanta Falcons in week 17.
If only the Carolina Panthers had a defense as their offense certainly is explosive enough, even with a rookie quarterback.
The Baltimore Ravens sit currently with a plus 9 TOX and the Steelers spotted them a plus 9 week to start the season. I am not saying, I am just saying.
