O-Line Goes Hunting

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line followed Mason McCormick to South Dakota to go pheasant hunting for a cause. As detailed by Dakota News Now, Steelers’ centers Zach Frazier and Ryan McCollum joined McCormick on a hunting event to raise money to fight food insecurity in the region.

“The most important thing is being able to give back, and this is something we want to continue to grow,” McCormick said.

It marked Frazier and McCollum’s first trip to South Dakota, where McCormick grew up before playing his college ball at South Dakota State. He turned down NIL deals and bigger opportunities to remain in school, and he was drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round last year.

Pickett Back At Pitt

Kenny Pickett will return to Acrisure Stadium later this month, though not to be the Steelers’ quarterback. He’s one of several former Pitt Panthers to serve as an honorary coach of their April 12 spring game.

After five years at Pitt, Pickett remains the school’s all-time leader in passing attempts, yards, and touchdowns. His 2021 season was a breakout campaign, as he threw for 42 touchdowns as the Panthers had their best season since 1981.

Dino Tomlin Shines

At Boston College’s Pro Day earlier this week, WR Dino Tomlin, son of Mike Tomlin, posted a strong workout. As shared by the WPIAL Insider Twitter/X account, Tomlin ran a 4.45-40 with a 38-inch vertical, and 10’6″ broad.

Starting his college career at Maryland, he transferred to Boston College for the 2022 season and became a semi-regular contributor with 24 receptions and 312 yards in 2023. But a new coaching staff for 2024 saw Tomlin lose out on playing time, logging just three catches for 40 yards in his final season. At best, he’ll look to receive a rookie minicamp invite. His Pro Day testing will help.
