Two days after Kevin Colbert called the outside linebacker class an “unusually strong” group, the Pittsburgh Steelers are meeting with Boise State OLB Curtis Weaver, according to this tweet by the Trib’s Joe Rutter.
Weaver certainly has the size the Steelers’ look for at the position. He weighed in at 6’2 3/8, 265 pounds with 32 3/8 inch arms. Production isn’t a concern either. Weaver was dominant in school, racking up 19.5 TFL and 13.5 sacks as a junior in 2019. For his career, he registered 47.5 TFL and 34.5 sacks to go along with three forced fumbles and two interceptions.
Bud Dupree is still slated to hit free agency, though virtually everyone expects the team to franchise tag him. Even assuming so, his long-term future with the team remains in doubt and depth behind him and TJ Watt isn’t great. Anthony Chickillo is likely to be a cap casualty while Ola Adeniyi has limited experience and Tuzar Skipper – for now – is nothing more than a camp darling.
Check out our full report on Weaver below. We’ll also leave a link to our Combine interview masterlist, which we’ll update through the weekend.
