The Pittsburgh Steelers made one transaction Wednesday morning as wide receiver Jamal Custis was signed to the practice squad to fill the empty spot.
The 6-foot-5 receiver out of Syracuse was a second-team All-ACC honoree in 2018 and ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine before going undrafted this year. He was ultimately signed by the Kansas City Chiefs but failed to make their roster.
As s a redshirt senior in 2018, Custis had 51 catches for 906 yards and six touchdowns. He ended his college career having made made 64 receptions for 1,048 yards (16.4 avg.) and eight touchdowns in 40 games played in.
Prior to be cut by the Chiefs, Custis caught four passes for 32 yards in limited preseason play.
