The Pittsburgh Steelers rounded out their practice squad on Monday by signing running back Ralph Webb to the unit.
Webb, who was a member of the Steelers practice squad late last season, was with the team this past offseason and even on the 90-man roster at the start of training camp. Prior to the Steelers first preseason game this year Webb was waived injured. After clearing waivers he reverted to the Steelers Reserve/Injured list and not long after was waived again with an injury settlement.
Webb being signed to the practice squad on Monday could be taken as a sign that starting running back James Conner might not be able to practice this week due to him re-aggravating his shoulder injury early in the Thursday night game against the Cleveland Browns. The Steelers also signed running back Kerrith Whyte Jr. off the practice squad of the Chicago Bears on Saturday. The Steelers waived running back Tony Brooks-James to make room for Whyte on the 53-man roster.
Steelers running back Benny Snell Jr. has also been sidelined with a knee injury for the last three weeks so it will be interesting to see if he’s able to resume practicing again this week.
