The Pittsburgh Steelers made another practice squad transaction on Thursday and included outside linebacker Sutton Smith being released so that that running back Darrin Hall could be re-signed back to the unit. Smith was just signed to the practice squad on Wednesday while Hall was released to make room for him.
This quick turnaround is very unusual and it might suggest that running back James Conner (shoulder) or running back Trey Edmunds (ribs), might not be ready to fully practice the rest of the week.
Conner was listed as a limited practice participant on the team’s Wednesday injury report while Edmunds was listed as not practicing at all.
We’ll have to see how the rest of this week shakes out from an injury standpoint as it might provide clues as to why such a quick swap back of practice squad players took place.
