The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to terms with 11 undrafted free agents at the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft and now that several of these players have signed their three-year contracts, we can pass along the details of 2 of those deals courtesy of former NFL agent Joel Corry, who you can follow on Twiiter at @corryjoel.
First, let it be known that the undrafted rookie reservation amount for 2019 is $109,115, according to Corry. That number is the maximum amount of signing bonuses teams are allowed to give to undrafted free agents in 2019 and is a fixed percentage of the total Rookie Compensation Pool for 2019.
Of the two undrafted Steelers free agents listed below who are now signed to their rookie contracts, guard Fred Johnson and punter Ian Berryman, the former received the largest signing bonus which was $15,000. Berryman, on the other hand, received just a $2000 signing bonus, according to Corry.
The Steelers used $5,666 of 2019 salary cap space to sign both Johnson and Berryman and they now have $4,810,465 available, according to the Tuesday morning NFLPA update.
I’ll pass along the rest of the undrafted free agent contracts as soon as the full details become available.
