Steelers’ Seven Shots – Sunday, May 7, 2017

Every Sunday during the offseason I plan on recapping for you seven items related to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL that may have fallen through the cracks the past week that should be worth your time to read. This weekly feature will be entitled “Steelers’ Seven Shots.”

Shot #1 – Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin delivered the commencement address at Robert Morris University on Friday night and if you have 17 free minutes on this Sunday I highly advise you give it a watch.

Shot #2 – Being as I know all of you can’t get enough of the Steelers sixth-round draft pick, Colin Holba, here are some quotes from him on his reaction to being drafted in the Courier-Journal. Additionally, a few current sports marketing students from Holba’s former high school also interviewed the long snapper following him be drafted.

Shot #3 – While no longer a member of the Steelers, former running back Karlos Williams was in the news this past week as his son is currently battling Hirschsprung’s disease. The Tallahassee Democrat has the full story and it includes a link to a fundraiser that has been established that will help the family out with medical expenses. Williams older brother is of course Steelers current inside linebacker Vince Williams.

Shot #4 – New Steelers cornerback Steelers Coty Sensabaugh received a Daily Point of Light Award for his volunteer service last week and the Kingsport Times News has all of the details.

Shot #5Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a great story on new Steelers running back James Conner that was published Sunday morning. If that’s not enough Conner for you on this Sunday, below is great video of the Pittsburgh product that was put together by steelers.com.

Shot #6 – The Steelers signed free agent tackle Jake Rodgers to their offseason roster on Friday and while Alex Kozora has already profiled the new offensive lineman for you in a Sunday morning post, here is what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had to say about him right after he was selected in the seventh-round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

Shot #7 – Steelers rookie outside linebacker T.J. Watt has already received a major endorsement deal as he announced this past week on Twitter that he is now with Reebok. I suspect a commercial might be in his future.
