The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns Sunday in overtime to finish the regular season with an 11-5 record but they did suffer a few injuries during the contest.
According to head coach Mike Tomlin, defensive end Ricardo Mathews suffered an ankle injury during the game and did not return. In the second half, cornerback Justin Gilbert suffered a shoulder injury.
Mathews had already been dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered a few weeks ago so it will be interesting to see if he can play next weekend in the AFC Wild Card game against the Miami Dolphins.
Steelers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave left Sunday’s game against the Browns but was able to return for a few plays after being evaluated for a concussion. Tomlin did not update the status of Hargrave after the game.
The Steelers rested several key starters Sunday but the ones who played saw a lot of action. While he did dress Sunday, it didn’t appear as though wide receiver Sammie Coates (hamstring) played in the game.
