The Pittsburgh Steelers may finally have exhausted their list of secondary prospects to bring in and have now moved their attention to the front seven. Virginia Tech OLB Dadi Nicolas tweeted out he’s taking a trip to the Burgh.
He’s a 26 game starter for the Hokies who had a quiet senior season, picking up just 2.5 sacks, though he wasn’t always properly utilized in Virginia Tech’s system. He is an impressive athlete with long arms, but his football IQ and anchor against the run are major question marks. I viewed him with one of my first reports and put a mid-late 6th round grade on Nicolas. You can read the full report at the bottom.
In our outside linebacker study, Nicolas missed the weight and agility drill criteria. They were all fairly close, though. He was five pounds light on weight (235 vs 240), .03 seconds short on short shuttle (4.38 vs 4.35), and .04 seconds slow on the three cone (7.04 vs 7.00).
Nicolas is the 22nd known visitor for Pittsburgh. After him, they have eight remaining slots. He is the first edge rusher brought in.
