The Pittsburgh Steelers made one transaction on Tuesday and it included them waiving tackle Micah Hatchie.
Hatchie, who was signed to the Steelers roster early last May as an undrafted free agent, was a three-year starter at left tackle at Washington. He spent his entire rookie season on the Steelers Reserve/Injured list after tearing his left Achilles tendon during one of the team’s offseason practices.
While Hatchie’s waiving isn’t a huge surprise, the timing of the move is a bit curious and it makes you wonder if the Steelers are close to re-signing one of their several players who are about to become unrestricted free agents.
Hatchie was scheduled to earn a base salary of 450,000 in 2016 had he made the final roster.
