As of Thursday morning, the Pittsburgh Steelers have now lost three of their unrestricted free agents to other teams as tackle Kelvin Beachum, nose tackle Steve McLendon and linebacker Sean Spence have all now signed contracts to play elsewhere in 2016. All three were solid players and contributors for the Steelers and upstanding individuals on top of it. all three have since released statements via social media in which they all expressed gratitude to not only the Steelers organization, but that team’s fan base as well.
The Steelers have always placed a huge value on strong character when it comes to their players and it’s evident that all three of these players enjoyed playing for the organization and the fans in Pittsburgh. While it’s unfortunate that all three will now resume their careers with other teams, it’s just part of the business when it comes to the NFL and free agency.
Beachum and Spence were both drafted by the Steelers while McLendon originally signed with the team as an undrafted free agent. Beachum signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars while McLendon and Spence signed with the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans respectively.
