As usual, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be allowed to meet with 60 players during the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine that is now underway in Indianapolis and this year, general manager Kevin Colbert will reportedly ask all of the cornerbacks that they interview an very interesting question.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Colbert said Wednesday that every cornerback under evaluation will be asked this question: “Can he cover Antonio Brown?”
Well, assuming every cornerback will say that they can indeed cover wide receiver Antonio Brown, I’m curious as to what the follow-up question will be.
Brown is arguably the best wide receiver in the league right now and as we have seen time and time again over the course of the last several years, all cornerbacks have had problems when it comes to covering him and especially when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is on the field. Perhaps the cornerbacks should also be asked if they can catch a greased pig or lightning in a bottle, both of which might be easier than covering Brown.
While the Steelers will only get 15 minutes with every draft hopeful that they talk to at the combine, they’ll likely be able to learn quite a bit about each player in the process and especially being as Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin have quite a bit of experience when it comes to this particular part of the process.
