Hue Jackson is the offensive mastermind of the Cincinnati Bengals, leading them to the 7th highest scoring offense in the NFL. He’s also become one of the league’s top head coach candidates and regardless of outcome on Saturday, will have quite the busy day on Sunday.
ProFootballTalk is reporting Jackson will interview with three different teams Sunday: the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and Miami Dolphins. All three will be conducted in Cincinnati, obviously, but seemingly will get in the way of his preparation – and focus – for Saturday night’s Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Its impact will obviously be unknown but this certainly doesn’t hurt the Steelers’ chances.
Jackson has head coaching experience, spending one year in charge of the Oakland Raiders, leading them to an 8-8 record in 2011. He’s almost certain to be hired by someone during the offseason while Bengals’ defensive coordinator Paul Guenther has also gotten a couple of inquiries.
It’s been comparatively quiet on the Steelers’ front so far. Todd Haley has been loosely connected to the Dolphins and we wrote about the chance of Omar Khan getting looks as a general manager, though no team has shown reported interest so far. Offensive assistant Shaun Sarrett could be another to take a position coach job, too, but again, there hasn’t been any official interest.
As you know by now, the Steelers will kick off at 8:15 PM Saturday night. The game will be televised by CBS.
