The Pittsburgh Steelers will play their home opener against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday at Heinz Field and on Wednesday, the team released their first injury report of the week.
Cornerback Cortez Allen (knee) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) both failed to practice on Wednesday and it will be interesting to see if they’re both able to work in some capacity on Thursday. It’s concerning that both weren’t able to go on Wednesday being as the team last played nearly one full week ago.
Cornerback Brandon Boykin (groin) was limited in practice on Thursday. Boykin failed to play any snaps on defense in the Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots and reports earlier in the week suggested that he will see playing time against the 49ers assuming he’s healthy. Boykin was not on the Week 1 injury report, however.
Safety Will Allen (concussion), quarterback Landry Jones (concussion), safety Mike Mitchell (hip) and linebacker Sean Spence (hamstring) all practiced fully on Wednesday. Allen and Spence both left the game against the Patriots with their injuries but appear to be on track to play Sunday against the 49ers.
CAllen (knee), Shazier (knee) did not practice on Wed; Boykin (groin) was limited; WAllen, Landry, Mitchell, Spence all participated fully
