As expected, Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey underwent surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in his left leg. According to Chris Mortenson of ESPN, Pouncey was still in surgery as of 1:30 p.m.

In the first quarter of Sunday’s preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, Pouncey suffered the broken bone when defensive back Ha Ha Clinton-Dix rolled up on him from behind while attempting to make a tackle.
During his press conference later on in the week, head coach Mike Tomlin is expected to update Pouncey’s status. He will likely announce at that time that Pouncey will start the regular season on injured reserve with the designated to return tag.
Pouncey is expected to be sidelined for at least the first eight least weeks of the 2015 season.
