Oklahoma tight end Blake Bell had a nice showing Friday at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine as the former quarterback ran an unofficial 4.80 40 time to go along with a 4.32 short-shuttle time. Bell’s bench and vertical numbers certainly weren’t eye-popping and that confirms that he needs to develop his upper and lower body strength. That’s not too surprising, however, being as he converted to tight end last season.
According to Bell’s father, former Seattle Seahawks tight end Mark Bell, the Oklahoma product had a private meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers while in Indianapolis and it went well. The Steelers appear to be in the market for another tight end in the upcoming draft and Bell certainly fits the bill as a late-round prospect.
In case you missed it, I submitted my scouting report on Bell Friday morning and you can read it here.
