Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers placed veteran punter Adam Podlesh on the Reserve/Did Not Report list and after practice head coach Mike Tomlin was asked whether or not he’d be able to compete for the job at some point.
“It is what it is. Right now he’s on that list and his status will remain there until we hear otherwise,” said Tomlin of Podlesh. “Right now we’re working with Brad [Wing] and like the work that he’s doing.”
Tomlin was then asked if he was going to bring in another punter to compete against Wing.
“Not as we stand here right now, no,” replied Tomlin. “Not that I’m opposed to it, but not as we stand here right now.”
By the sound of things, Brad Wing will be given the opportunity to rebound uncontested Saturday night in the Steelers second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills after an uneven showing in the first game against the New York Giants.
