In a text to NFL Insider Jay Glazer, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin denied that he purposefully tried to interfere with Baltimore Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones Thursday night in the third quarter.
The text to Glazer read: “If anybody thinks I or anybody else would do this on purpose, they’re crazy.”
As far as the punishment that Tomlin will receive from the league this coming week, Glazer insisted that it will not include the loss of a draft pick.
“That’s has never been discussed,” said Glazer. “They didn’t take it away from the Jets and they deemed that to be on purpose, you cant do it for the Steelers.”
Glazer has been on top of this from the start and is as connected as anyone in the business. Tomlin will likely get fined, but as I stated in an earlier post, I will be surprised if a draft pick is lost as a result of his actions Thursday night.
