The Pittsburgh Steelers have now set their initial eight man practice squad for the 2013 season as guard Chris Hubbard, tackle Joe Long, defensive end Brian Arnfelt, linebacker Alan Baxter, linebacker Terence Garvin, running back Alvester Alexander, cornerback Devin Smith and wide receiver Justin Brown were all signed Sunday after clearing waivers.
The Steelers surprisingly did not sign fifth-round draft pick Terry Hawthorne or second-year linebacker Marshall McFadden to the practice squad, but there is chance that one of the two might be added back to the 53 man roster next week if tight end Matt Spaeth is placed on injured reserve with the designated to return tag.
Brown was selected in the sixth-round this past April, but was beaten out for the fifth wide receiver spot on the roster by Derek Moye.
Hubbard, Arnfelt and Baxter were signed as undrafted free agents back in April while Alexander and Smith were signed to the roster during training camp.
