The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4 of the 2013 season at Wembley Stadium, but their trip to London will be a short one.
Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports on Sunday that the Steelers will hold their standard practices during the week in Pittsburgh before taking a team charter to London Thursday evening and practicing there on Friday. This is the same itinerary that previous teams have used when they were scheduled to play in London since 2007, when NFL teams started playing games on a regular basis in the United Kingdom.
According to the report made by Robinson, the Steelers will only spend Friday and Saturday in London before flying home Sunday evening after the game against the Vikings.
The September 29th game will be the first of two games played in London this season as the San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to play the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 27th. Last season the New England Patriots beat the St. Louis Rams 45-7 in the lone game played in London.
It certainly sounds like the Steelers players won\’t have much time on their hands when they arrive in London, and that means there will hopefully be less distractions as a result.
