The Pittsburgh Steelers had recently released running back Beanie Wells in for a free agent visit on Friday and that visit appears to have not gone so well.
The 24 year old Wells, who was recently let go by the Arizona Cardinals, partly because of a right knee problem, reportedly has a “bad wheel” according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Twitter.
While Dulac did not say what part of the “wheel” was bad on Wells, we can only assume that he might be referring to his knee. Wells did, however, also have a turf toe problem last season that caused him to miss half of the 2012 season. In addition to that, he had an ankle sprain problem as a rookie.
The Steelers were likely looking to add Wells as another running back body to compete at training camp, but for now, it appears that a potential signing might be put on hold after being checked out by the Steelers medical staff.
Wells was drafted 31st overall by the Cardinals in the 2009 draft.
