Report: Todd Haley Interviewing With Cardinals On Wednesday

Last week the Arizona Cardinals asked the Pittsburgh Steelers for permission to interview offensive coordinator Todd Haley for their open head coaching position, and according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Haley is interviewing for the position today.

The report by Bouchette came minutes after Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported on Twitter that Haley will not proceed with the interview despite being granted permission to do so.

Rapoport also passed along in his report that Haley wouldn\’t interview with teams unless it was known ahead of time that has a “very real” chance of getting the job.

It sounds like we have definitely have conflicting reports here, but I would put my money on Bouchette being right.

On Tuesday the Cardinals promoted Steve Keim to be their new General Manager to replace Rod Graves, who was fired after the 2012 season ended. Cardinals team president Michael Bidwill is thought to be a fan of Haley due to him being the offensive coordinator for the team that went to the Super Bowl back in 2008.

The Cardinals have a pretty good list of candidates that they are interviewing for the job and Bidwell admitted that the process would be a diligent one. Keim has been with the Cardinals since 1999 and was promoted to the director of college scouting in 2006 and player personnel director in 2008, so he and Haley both know each other very well.
