Report: Roethlisberger Expected To Play Against Chargers; Taylor Has Hairline Fracture

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting Tuesday on Twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers are expecting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to return this week and start Sunday against the San Diego Chargers after missing the last three games with an injured rib and shoulder. Roethlisberger, who was only able to accomplish some light throwing in practice last week, was still experiencing some soreness heading into last weekend, but several reports since suggest that he was feeling better at the beginning of this week.

Dulac also reports that the Steelers will be without cornerback Ike Taylor for at least two games and possibly longer after suffering a hairline fracture in his lower right leg on the third play of the game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Taylor or course will be replaced by Cortez Allen on Sunday with Curtis Brown entering the game when the defense uses their nickel package.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday that the Steelers were bringing in free agent cornerback Stanford Routte for a work out later in the day assuming he doesn\’t sign with the Houston Texans, who he also was scheduled to work out for on Tuesday.
