It was announced on Tuesday that the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to host a home game in London in 2013 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Webley Stadium on Sept. 29, 2013. It will be considered an away game for the Steelers.
The Steelers have been linked as a team that could possibly play in Ireland in the future, but that game has yet to materialize and will not take place in 2013.
The 2013 September game in London will be one of two international games played next season as the Jacksonville Jaguars are scheduled to play the San Francisco 49ers in London in 2013 as well.
“We are excited for the opportunity to play in London in 2013 against the Minnesota Vikings,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II on Tuesday. “It will be an excellent chance to grow the game of football internationally, and we are thrilled that our players and Steelers fans around the world will be able to enjoy the atmosphere. We look forward to playing in historic Wembley Stadium in what we are sure will be an entertaining game for NFL fans everywhere.”
