The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait at least another week to clinch a spot in the 2011 playoffs as the Denver Broncos knocked off the Chicago Bears 13-10 in overtime this evening to prevent the Steelers from clinching.
Up until the overtime win by the Broncos the day was shaping up for the Steelers to clinch at least the 6th seed in the AFC at worst after the Houston Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals, the Green Bay Packers beat the Oakland Raiders and the New Orleans Saints beat the Tennessee Titans. All the Steelers needed this evening was a Bears win over the Broncos and they would have clinched the playoff spot.
The Texans were able to clinch the AFC South with their win and the loss by the Titans today. The Steelers next play the San Francisco 49ers a week from Monday at Candlestick Park and clinch a playoff spot with a win or either a loss by the New York Jets or the Broncos next week. The Broncos host the New England Patriots, while the Jets visit the Philadelphia Eagles.
