The Steelers broke camp this morning with a couple of roster moves as wide receiver Limas Sweed was waived injured and tight end Eugene Bright was waived off of the PUP list. To take their spots on the roster, the Steelers signed defensive backs Kevin Dockery and Macho Harris.
Sweed has had a litany of problems since being drafted by the Steelers in the second-round of the 2008 NFL draft and he could not stay healthy again this year in camp. Bright had been on the active PUP list since the start of camp as he was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
Dockery is a cornerback that broke into the league as an undrafted free agent with the Giants in 2006. He was signed by the Rams last offseason, but was released late that September. Harris was a free agent who last played for the Redskins.
Sweed being placed on the waived/injured list means the Steelers have to pay him until he is recovered from injury or they reach an injury settlement with him. If not claimed off of waivers, the Steelers can place Sweed on the injured reserve list.
