Below is the Steelers week 8 defensive participation chart versus the New Orleans Saints from this past Sunday night. Please comment with any discrepancies you find. A few things you will notice is that Steve McLendon played just one snap on defense. The move to bring him up from the practice squad was a pure healthy body move and it cost draft pick Thaddeus Gibson. If Gibson becomes an every down player with the 49ers, this personnel move will be looked back on. 36 of 67 snaps on defense saw the Steelers in nickel defense. Nick Eason and Ziggy Hood are conditioned as Eason only missed one defensive play while Hood was out only 8 plays. It will however be nice to get Brett Keisel back Monday night to lighten the snap load. Larry Foote only saw 2 snaps on defense on both were as an extra linebacker on the goal-line stand. Coaching staff thinks that highly of James Farrior play thus far as he was on the field for every defensive snap.
