‘Coach And A Best Friend All In One’: Jaylen Warren Explains Why He Voted Aaron Rodgers A Captain

Jaylen Warren Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced their team captains for the year. On offense, Aaron Rodgers is the sole player with that title. While Rodgers only joined the Steelers in June, he’s their starting quarterback. That puts him in a leadership position. Also, Rodgers stated that he wants to be a leader for the Steelers, and he’s been trying to step up in that department. Jaylen Warren explained why he voted for Rodgers as a captain.

“The pen was writing Aaron before I could even think what I was going to write,” Warren said Monday via the team’s website. “Just very transparent. He has a lot of characters, too. He’s a coach and a best friend all in one. You couldn’t ask for more from a quarterback.”

There are a lot of people who don’t like Rodgers. He’s a controversial figure and he’s not afraid to speak his mind. However, Rodgers’ teammates usually have nothing but good things to say about him.

This offseason, Rodgers joining the Steelers was a hot topic. He took his time signing with them because he had personal issues to deal with. That might have created some frustration about Rodgers within the Steelers’ organization. Despite that, Rodgers has won the team over in the short time he has been in Pittsburgh.

Also, it isn’t only Rodgers’ current teammates who have good things to say about him. Many of his former teammates have praised him as well. That includes some with the New York Jets. Rodgers’ stint there wasn’t successful, but their players still speak highly of him.

This is Rodgers’ 15th year as a captain. He’s got a deep well of knowledge and experience, which should put him in a good position to lead the Steelers. They’ve struggled to fill that spot on offense. That group is relatively young, and they’ve lacked consistency under center. While Rodgers might not be in Pittsburgh beyond this year, he could impart a lot of wisdom to his teammates in 2025.

We’ll see if Rodgers makes enough of a difference to help the Steelers win a playoff game this year. Last year wasn’t his best season, but with the Steelers, he has an opportunity to put together a better season. Hopefully, his presence helps steady them throughout the year.
