The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the jersey numbers of their 2023 rookie class. While we knew two of them already, OT Broderick Jones wearing #77 and CB Joey Porter Jr. wearing #24, we know the rest of them today. In order of selections, they are:
OT Broderick Jones – #77
CB Joey Porter Jr. – #24
NT Keeanu Benton – #95
TE Darnell Washington – #80
OLB Nick Herbig – #51
CB Cory Trice Jr. – #27
OL Spencer Anderson – #74
The Steelers have officially announced the jersey numbers.
Jones is wearing #77 to honor former Georgia teammate Devin Willock, who was killed in a car accident earlier this year. Porter Jr. will wear #24 to honor Ike Taylor.
Some had speculated whether Washington would keep #0, the digit he wore in college, now that the NFL is allowing the number to be worn this year. But it doesn’t seem like Pittsburgh is allowing it.
The rest of the numbers look solid across the board. Number 95 “looks” good for Benton. Ditto for Trice’s #27 and Anderson’s #74. Though #51 for Herbig doesn’t quite feel right.
It’s not currently known what numbers the team’s UDFAs will wear. We’ll update with those when they become known.
