Former Pittsburgh Steelers’ linebacker Devin Bush remains a free agent. But he has his first visit lined up. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bush is scheduled to visit the Seattle Seahawks Thursday.

Bush has always been expected to sign elsewhere after four years with the Steelers. After trading up to select him tenth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, Bush’s career has been underwhelming. He struggled to get off blocks in the run game, make splash plays, and often looked hesitant and unsure, minimizing his impressive natural athleticism. He also tore his ACL in 2020, missing most of the year, and had an especially poor 2021 season.
He was better in 2022 and he’s a reliable and solid tackler. Though his play improved this past year, it still wasn’t good enough to retain him and he seemed fine with the idea of moving on. Bush barely played the final two weeks of the season against AFC North foes Cleveland and Baltimore, the final sign his time in Pittsburgh was over.
For his Steelers’ career, Bush started 48 games and recorded 286 tackles.
Pittsburgh’s inside linebacker room should look different in 2023. Bush will not return while Robert Spillane signed a two-year deal to go to the Las Vegas Raiders. Pittsburgh still has Myles Jack but agreed to a three-year deal with former Washington Commander Cole Holcomb Wednesday. Special teamer Marcus Allen has also officially become a free agent and may sign elsewhere. Pittsburgh would be wise to draft an inside linebacker next month while also giving the second-year Mark Robinson a long look this summer.
So far, the team has lost two internal free agents in Spillane and CB Cam Sutton, who agreed to a three-year deal with the Detroit Lions on Monday.
