The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t done making moves. Or upgrading their offensive line. According to Jordan Schultz, the team is signing a three-year deal with OG Isaac Seumalo.
Seumalo, 29, has started 60 career games, including all 17 for the Philadelphia Eagles last season. A third round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, he had spent his entire career with the Eagles prior to this point. There is an Andy Weidl connection, part of the Eagles’ organization before being hired by Pittsburgh last year.
Throughout his career, he’s logged 2686 regular season snaps at left guard, 1272 snaps at right guard, 149 snaps at right tackle, 34 snaps at center, and five at left tackle, per PFF. Last season, he worked almost exclusively as the Eagles’ right guard. Prior to 2022, he worked primarily as the team’s left guard.
This is the second offensive lineman the Steelers have signed this offseason, joining Nate Herbig. It’s not clear how the Steelers’ offensive line will look after the team signed two interior players. But they’re going heavy in the middle with Herbig, Seumalo, along with James Daniels, Mason Cole, and Kevin Dotson. At this point, it seems like Dotson is out of the picture though there will be another odd man out too, at least when it comes to starters. With a three-year deal, odds are good Seumalo will start. Perhaps Herbig will become an interior swingman, though nothing can be ruled out at this point.
