The Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Elandon Roberts to a two-year contract on Friday, and the details of that deal are now known.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, Roberts signed a two-year, $7 million contract. As part of that deal, Wilson reports that Roberts received a $2.335 million signing bonus and base salaries in 2023 and 2024 of $1.165 million and $3.5 million, respectively.
Roberts’ cap charges in 2023 and 2024 are set to be $2.3325 million and $4.6675 million, respectively. His contract is an even cash split of the $7 million total as he is set to earn $3.5 million in 2023 and another $3.5 million in 2024.
Roberts, who was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth-round (214th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Houston, has 457 total tackles in 107 career regular-season games. Additionally, he has 11 sacks, one interception, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 39 tackles for loss, and four passes defensed.
Last season with the Miami Dolphins, Roberts had a career-high 107 regular-season tackles with 10 tackles for loss. He also had 4.5 sacks with the Dolphins to go along with six quarterback hits. In the playoffs, he added three more total tackles and two quarterback hits.
