Cornerback Steven Nelson has been downgraded from questionable to out for tomorrow night’s tilt against the Los Angeles Chargers, per this tweet from head PR man Burt Lauten. Nelson will not make the trip with the team.
Starting in his place is expected to be Artie Burns, who told reporters yesterday he was going to get the nod after practicing with the first team all week. It will be his first start since Week 15 last year, where he was quickly benched. Burns has played just two defensive snaps in 2019. He’ll be trying to fill some big shoes too. Nelson has been the team’s best corner this year.
Nelson is one of several Steelers ruled out for Sunday. The others are: FB Roosevelt Nix, RB Jaylen Ssamuels, WR James Washington, QB Mason Rudolph, and ILB Mark Barron.
