The Pittsburgh Steelers have now released their first injury report of Week 3 of the 2019 regular season and the Wednesday offering has six players listed on it with five of them failing to practice earlier in the day
Sitting out on Wednesday for the Steelers were fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee), cornerback Joe Haden (shoulder), outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo (foot), inside linebacker Vince Williams (hamstring) and running back James Conner (knee).
Nix, who missed the team’s week 2 game with his knee injury, has already been riled out by head coach Mike Tomlin for the Sunday road game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Conner, who injured his knee around the start of the fourth quarter Sunday, has stated a few times the last few days that he expects to play against the 49ers. Haden is also expected be ready for Sunday as well as long as he doesn’t suffer ant setbacks with the shoulder he injured during the regular season opener.
Williams and Chickillo, both of whom suffered their injuries this past Sunday, are probably highly questionable for Sunday right now. If neither can practice on Thursday then there’s a good chance they’ll sit out against the 49ers. Chickillo, according to Tomlin after Sunday’s game, is now dealing with plantar fasciitis.
Tight end Vance McDonald (back) was also listed on the Wednesday injury report after being limited in practice earlier in the day. McDonald is expected to play against the 49ers on Sunday barring anything unforeseen.
The Steelers might give a few veterans a day off on Thursday and if that’s the case, those players will need to be added to the team’s injury report. Last week those two players added on Thursday were guard Ramon Foster and inside linebacker Mark Barron.
