The Pittsburgh Steelers have now released their final injury report of Week 3 ahead of their Sunday road game against the San Francisco 49ers and the Friday offering shows that three players will sit out that contest with injuries.
After failing to practice again on Friday for the Steelers the team listed fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee), inside linebacker Vince Williams (hamstring) and outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo (foot) as out on the official injury report to close out the week. This will mark the second consecutive game that Nix has missed with his knee injury.
With Chickillo out this week, second-year outside linebacker Olasunkanmi Adeniyi is expected to be the primary backup at his position Sunday against the 49ers. Adeniyi played just a handful of defensive snaps last Sunday after Chickillo suffered his injury late in the game. Adeniyi also figures to have a little larger special teams role on Sunday with Chickillo sidelined.
Practicing fully on Friday for the Steelers were inside linebacker Mark Barron (not injury related), cornerback Joe Haden (shoulder), tight end Vance McDonald (back), outside linebacker Bud Dupree and running back James Conner (knee). None of those five players received game status designations on Friday so all are expected to play Sunday against the 49ers.
