Patriots Thursday Injury Report Week 1: TE LaCosse, WR Thomas Remain Limited

The New England Patriots have now released their Thursday injury report ahead of their Sunday night Week 1 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and it’s identical to the one they released on Wednesday.

Limited in practice a second consecutive day for the Patriots were tight end Matt LaCosse (ankle), safety Obi Melifonwu (ankle) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (hamstring).

As mentioned on Wednesday, LaCosse sat out most of the preseason with his ankle injury after sustaining it in the team’s exhibition opener. Since originally entering the NFL with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent, LaCosse has caught all of 27 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown with most of that production last season as a member of the Denver Broncos.

As for Thomas, he only saw preseason action in the Patriots exhibition finale. He caught seven passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in that final preseason game against the Giants.

Melifonwu is a depth player for the Patriots. Last season he registered just three total tackles for the Patriots in the two games that he dressed for.
