Mom always said don’t play ball in the house. But when you’re Xavier Grimble, I think an exception needs to be made. I know we’ve written plenty about Grimble’s offseason work already and yeah, that’s partially because it’s the dead of the offseason and I’m about three days away from penning my next article: Greatest Steelers to end in “Oethlisberger.” But Grimble has seemed to be having as intense an offseason as anyone on the Steelers and he took it to another level in an Instagram video posted Saturday.
He has a clip of him in his living room, catching passes off a jugs machine. Check it out.
Grimble isn’t exactly feeling the heat after the team didn’t draft a tight end or bring in any high priority free agent. But he isn’t a roster lock either, Jake McGee looked good as a late camp add in 2017, and it’s not impossible that he pushes Jesse James for the backup spot and a much bigger role in the offense than third string.
From what he’s posted this offseason, Grimble is in tremendous shape and has been working out almost daily after recovering from offseason hand surgery. He spent the beginning of the offseason with Martavis Bryant though I haven’t seen the pair since Bryant’s trade to Oakland.
Regardless, it’s nice to see Grimble dedicate himself the way he is and be in the best position to succeed once training camp begins.
