CG Technology, which runs a number sports books in the Las Vegas area, has now updated their betting lines for the first 16 weeks of the 2018 NFL regular season and according to Ben Fawkes of ESPN.com, they currently have the Pittsburgh Steelers favored to win 13 of their first 15 games.
As you can see in the aggregated lines below from Fawkes, the Steelers are currently underdogs in just one their first 15 games they’ll play during the 2018 regular season and that game is their Week 16 road contest against the New Orleans Saints, who are favored by just one-point. The other game that the Steelers aren’t currently favored in is their Week 9 road game against the Baltimore Ravens. That game, however, is currently listed as pick’em game.
The Steelers are currently considered favorites over two of the three teams they lost to last year during the regular season, the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots.
This year’s game against the Jaguars, in which the Steelers are currently one-point favorites, will take place in Week 11 in Jacksonville. The Steelers are 4-1 in their last five games against the Jaguars that were played in Jacksonville.
The Steelers are also currently installed as a one-point favorite over the Patriots in a game that will take place at Heinz Field in Week 15. Since Heinz Field opened, the Steelers are 2-6 against the Patriots with two of those losses coming in the playoffs. The Patriots, by the way, are currently the favorites in their other 14 regular season games that have lines.
A bit surprisingly, the Steelers are a 3.5-point favorite in their Week 14 road game against the Oakland Raiders. The Steelers are 0-3 in their last three games against the Raiders in Oakland and their last win in that city came way back in 1995.
As Fawkes points out, CG Technology excludes Week 17 games because of high variance caused by potential playoff seeding, quarterbacks potentially sitting out the final week of the regular season or playing partial games, etc.
