Though he was on the roster for only a brief time, Isaiah Pead could always be considered part of the Pittsburgh Steelers family. An NFL career cut short by a car accident, I wanted to share an inspiring update on his recovery.
Two days ago, Pead shared this video of him running for the first time on his prosthetic left leg. Check it out.
In November of 2016, Pead was involved in a bad car accident that caused him to lose part of his left leg. That ended his football career but clearly, hasn’t stopped him from living the rest of his life.
The Steelers signed Pead back in 2015 following Le’Veon Bell’s torn MCL against the Cincinnati Bengals, an injury that ended his season. They released him less than a month later, opting to promote Fitzgerald Toussaint on the 53 man roster.
The Miami Dolphins signed him the following March and he lasted until October, one month before his accident.
I know his time in the city was brief but it’s great to see him recover and get back to a normal life, just as Steelers Nation is watching with Ryan Shazier. And hopefully put a smile on your face this Sunday morning.
