The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting several ,ore pre-draft visitors on Thursday and that list of players includes linebacker Malik Jefferson, Maryland linebacker Jermaine Carter, North Carolina State defensive lineman B.J. Hill and North Carolina defensive back Marvin Stewart.
Jefferson, who measured in at this years scouting combine at 6022, 236-pounds, ran the 40-yard-dash in Indianapolis in 4.52-seconds. In his three seasons at Texas he registered 231 total tackles of which 26 resulted in lost yardage. He also had 13 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 5 passes defensed.
In 2017, Jefferson led the Texas defense with 110 tackles, second most in the Big 12, and 10 tackles for loss. He tied for the team lead with four sacks and was named the conference’s co-defensive player of the year.
Jefferson is currently expected to be selected in either the second or third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
As for Carter, he registered 320 total tackles in his four seasons at Maryland with 29.5 of them resulting in lost yardage. He also had 9.5 sacks, one interception, 8 forced fumbles and 10 defensed passes. He reportedly measures in at 6-0, 228-pounds.
Hill measured in at the combine at 6032, 311-pounds. In his four seasons at North Carolina State he recorded 183 total tackles with 23.5 of them resulting in lost yardage. He also had 8 sacks, one interception, 9 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He is expected to be a mid-round selection in this year’s draft.
As for Stewart, a starting cornerback at North Carolina the past two seasons, he measured in at the combine at 5107, 200-pounds and ran his 40-yard-dash in 4.54-seconds. In his four seasons at North Carolina he registered 199 total tackles, 6 interceptions, 41 total pass breakups and 3 forced fumbles. He is projected to be a slot cornerback at the NFL level and a day-two draft pick.
