Defensive linemen Tyson Alualu will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers today, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Alualu, the tenth overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2010 draft, never panned out as hoped for. In his seven year career, all with Jacksonville, he’s recorded 17.5 sacks and forced a pair of fumbles. He’s played in a 4-3 his entire career so he’d have to make a scheme change in Pittsburgh, though I imagine his role wouldn’t be too different. He profiles as a three tech pass rusher, something the team could add behind Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, and Javon Hargrave.
He started ten games in 2016, finishing with 36 tackles and 2.5 sacks. At the Combine back in 2010, he weighed in at 6’2/3 295 pounds.
We’ll update you if he ends up signing with the Steelers later this afternoon.
