The Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday injury report has now been released and once it again it shows that two key players failed to practice a second consecutive day.
Sitting out again on Thursday were tight end Ladarius Green (concussion), defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee), safety Shamarko Thomas (concussion) and cornerback Justin Gilbert (illness). Gilbert was added to the injury report on Thursday.
We’ll have to see what ultimately happens with Green and Tuitt on Friday but the fact that both failed to practice again on Thursday is indeed concerning when it comes to Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Both players were injured in the Steelers Sunday win over the Cincinatti Bengals. As for Thomas, it looks like he’s going to miss yet another game.
If Tuitt can’t practice Friday, the Steelers might decided to promote a defensive end off their practice squad on Saturday. As for Green, if he sits Sunday it would result in Xavier Grimble getting a helmet.
Limited on Thursday were linebacker Anthony Chickillo (ankle), wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot), defensive end Ricardo Mathews (ankle) and wide receiver Sammie Coates (hamstring). Coates, however, is a new addition to the injury report on Thursday and that’s very concerning. We’ll have to see what happens with him on Friday as well. If Coates is unable to go against the Ravens, rookie wide receiver Demarcus Ayers would likely get a helmet.
Practicing fully on Thursday were running back DeAngelo Williams (knee), tackle Marcus Gilbert (not injury related) and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related). Gilbert and Roethlisberger have now been removed from the injury report after being given Wednesday off.
