You’ve already heard the news that Al-Hajj Shabazz was going to be promoted to the 53 man roster. Now we know the rest.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced they have placed CB Senquez Golson and OT Ryan Harris on injured reserve. In corresponding moves, they have signed CB Al-Hajj Shabazz and OT Matt Feiler.
This likely ends Golson and Harris’ seasons, assuming Bud Dupree is still on track to be the Steelers’ IR-to-return player. Golson suffered a Lisfranc fracture in his foot during training camp while Harris dealt with a hematoma suffered in last week’s win over Kansas City.
No final decisions have to be made by the team for who their to-return player will be but Dupree still seems to be the favorite to return. Golson and Harris won’t be eligible to return for at least eight weeks, meaning the very end of the regular season.
This means Golson will have failed to play a single snap in a game, preseason or regular season, in his first two NFL seasons. Harris was signed as a free agent from the Denver Broncos in the offseason.
Shabazz spent all of camp this year on the team’s practice squad. Feiler was signed shortly after the preseaon ended in 2015 and has been with the team since. Presumably, he will be the backup RT behind Chris Hubbard tomorrow against the New York Jets. He is their 7th offensive linemen. Cody Wallace and Marcus Gilbert will miss with injuries.
