As expected, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been fined for his post-touchdown celebration in Monday night’s regular season opening win over the Washington Redskins.
Additionally, Brown was reportedly fined for wearing baby blue cleats Monday night because they violated the NFL’s uniform protocol.
So, what did Brown have to say Thursday about his Week 1 paycheck being docked?
“Nothing to a boss,” Brown reportedly said, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
Brown, who was flagged 15 yards for his twerk-like touchdown celebration, reportedly said the fine amounts were a “couple hundred.” We, however, certainly know that it was much more than that and that the two fines combined likely set the Steelers wide receiver back a total of $21,269, according to the league’s fines and appeals chart. In case you’re curious, Brown earns nearly $603,000 a week this season thanks to him being paid forward some of his 2017 base salary several weeks ago as a part of a contract restructure.
In Monday night’s win over the Redskins, Brown registered eight catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns. His illegal dance came after he beat Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland for a 26-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter.
