The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their first practice report of the week. Ryan Shazier (knee), Senquez Golson (foot), and Roosevelt Nix (back) were held out of practice. Markus Wheaton (shoulder) and Cody Wallace (knee) were full participants.
Generally, the team seems to be trending in the right direction health-wise. It’s nice to see Wheaton and Wallace be a full-go and provided they don’t suffer any setbacks, should be available for Sunday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mike Tomlin seemed to imply Nix had a good chance to return this week. Tomorrow will be an important day to gauge his status. If he can’t practice at all, there’s a good chance he’ll be held out again.
Of course, the elephant in the room is Shazier, who left in the 4th quarter of the season opener win against Washington. All indications, from player and coach, indicates it’s a minor injury. But of course, Shazier’s shoulder injury last season was originally called minor. He ended up missing several weeks.
The Bengals should release an injury report later in the day. Tight end Tyler Eifert has already been ruled out.
